Ice dyeing seems to be trendy these days, so I thought I'd give it a go. I soaked some fabric in soda ash and water for about 30 minutes, and let it drip so that it was almost dry. Next I put the fabric on a plastic screen that was elevated in a large plastic container, put a mound of ice on top, then sprinkled dye over the ice. It took a long time for the ice to melt. I left it alone until the next day, rinsed it out and put in the washing machine.
I like the unpredictability of the process.
