This quilt has a pieced background, and is machine appliqued and machine quilted. I used commercial and hand painted fabrics.
This photo was taken before the piece was quilted. I like how the light is coming from behind to give it a stained glass affect.

Portal Quilt
During my
photography days in art school, I created unique images and textures by burning
slides with a match – the results were always surprising…
My quilt
“Portal” uses one of these images creating what looks like an opening, or a
passageway.
The main
piece was quilted first and couched with yarn; then, I created the separate photo-image
quilt and appliquéd it to the main piece.

Aerial View
Aerial View
was created with silk, and cotton hand dyed and commercial fabric; fused raw-
edge applique, and machine quilting using decorative thread. I
couched yarn on to the quilt surface. The
edges were bound with a zigzag stitch.

Tea Time
My “Tea Time” quilt was created with used tea bag paper as
the background. I made some photo images
on the tea bag paper for the letters and the tea strainer. The lemons are also photo images. The tea cup and teapot were created by
putting yarn, thread, and roving between two pieces of water soluble stabilizer,
and free motion quilting on top. I also
created stencils with freezer paper for the leaves on the background, and
binding, which is cheesecloth.
